Larissa Hale is a proud Jalunji Warra woman from Cape York, Queensland, and one of Australia’s leading voices for Indigenous conservation. As Founder and CEO of the Queensland Indigenous Women’s Ranger Network, the Indigenous Women Rangers Network, and Yuku Baja Muliku (YBM) Landowner & Reserves Ltd, she has created pathways for women to care for Country and lead environmental restoration. Larissa chairs the Traditional Owner Advisory Group for the Great Barrier Reef Foundation and sits on its Partnership Management Committee.

Her groundbreaking work has led to initiatives like the YBM Indigenous Land & Sea Ranger Program, Archer Point Turtle Hospital, and YBM Junior Ranger Program blending Traditional Knowledge with Western science. As a former Councillor with the Cook Shire, she is deeply dedicated to the environment, the Reef and her culture.

Globally recognised, Larissa received the Prince William-run Earthshot Prize in 2022 (Revive our Oceans category) and the 2023 Women in Technology Award for her leadership in Indigenous land and sea management.
